Our Orthodontic Treatments

We offer a complete range of orthodontic systems, from fixed braces to removable aligners, so we can tailor treatment to every patient’s needs, goals, and lifestyle.

1. Fixed Braces

Fixed braces remain one of the most effective ways to correct moderate to complex cases.

Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces use high-quality stainless steel brackets and wires to guide teeth precisely into alignment. They’re a reliable and durable choice for patients of all ages.

Ceramic Braces

For a more aesthetic option, ceramic braces use tooth-coloured or translucent brackets that blend seamlessly with your smile. They’re just as effective as metal braces but far less visible.

Incognito (Lingual) Braces

If you prefer complete discretion, Incognito braces are fitted to the back of your teeth, making them invisible from the front. They combine the precision of fixed braces with the cosmetic appeal of hidden treatment.

2. Removable and Clear Aligners

Invisalign®

As a certified Invisalign provider, Apolline offers this globally renowned clear aligner system for patients seeking a subtle alternative to braces. Invisalign uses a series of nearly invisible aligners that gently reposition your teeth, without affecting your appearance or daily routine.

Orthodontics for Adults and Children

Our specialist orthodontic services cater to both adults and younger patients. Early assessment in children helps guide jaw growth and tooth development, while adults benefit from discreet, modern systems that fit comfortably around work and lifestyle.

Dr Ahmed’s dual experience in academic orthodontics and clinical practice ensures that each patient, regardless of age or complexity, receives a bespoke treatment plan built on evidence-based care.

What to Expect During Treatment

Every orthodontic journey begins with a comprehensive consultation, where we take time to understand your goals and assess your teeth, bite, and facial structure.

Step 1 – Consultation

We’ll carry out a full assessment, including digital X-rays or 3D scans if required, to plan your treatment accurately.

Step 2 – Treatment Plan

Your orthodontist will discuss all suitable options, explaining the pros, timelines, and expected results.

Step 3 – Active Treatment

You’ll attend periodic appointments for adjustments and progress checks. Our friendly team will guide you through every stage.

Step 4 – Retainers & Aftercare

Once your new smile is achieved, you’ll receive retainers (fixed or removable) to maintain the results long-term.

How Long Does Orthodontic Treatment Take?

Treatment time depends on the type of braces and the level of correction required.

  • Minor adjustments: around 6-9 months
  • Moderate cases: 12-18 months
  • Complex cases: up to 24 months

Dr Ahmed’s experience allows for accurate planning and efficient results through the most suitable orthodontic system for your needs.

Does Orthodontic Treatment Hurt?

Mild discomfort is normal in the first few days after braces are adjusted or when switching to a new aligner. However, this quickly subsides as your mouth adjusts. Our team will always ensure your comfort is prioritised throughout your treatment journey.

CASE EXAMPLES

CASE ONE

This patient came to Dr. Ahmed with significant crowding and a misaligned bite, which made their smile appear uneven and affected their bite function. Over the course of 15 months, Dr. Ahmed used discreet white ceramic braces to gradually align each tooth, correct the bite, and create a harmonious, healthy smile. The result is a natural, confident look that not only enhances appearance but also improves oral health.

CASE TWO

This patient visited Dr. Ahmed concerned about noticeable gaps between their teeth. Using Invisalign clear aligners, Dr. Ahmed designed a personalised plan to gradually bring the teeth closer together. In just 10 months, the spaces were closed, the smile line was improved, and the overall look became more even and confident.

Frequently Asked Questions

An orthodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on diagnosing, preventing and correcting misaligned teeth and jaws. At Apolline Dental in Chingford, our consultant orthodontist, Dr Ahmed, uses a combination of fixed and removable braces to create healthy, balanced smiles for both adults and children.

While general dentists look after your overall oral health, orthodontists complete several years of additional training focused exclusively on tooth and jaw alignment. Dr Ahmed, our in-house consultant orthodontist, holds a PhD in Orthodontics and has trained and practised at The Royal London Hospital and the University of Glasgow.

We provide a complete range of orthodontic systems including:

  • Traditional metal braces – precise and reliable

  • Ceramic braces – discreet, tooth-coloured brackets

  • Lingual braces – hidden behind your teeth

  • Invisalign® clear aligners – removable, almost invisible trays

Your orthodontist will help you choose the best option based on your goals, budget and lifestyle.

Invisalign can correct many of the same issues as traditional braces, including crowding, spacing, overbites and underbites, especially in mild to moderate cases. However, complex movements may still benefit from fixed braces. During your consultation, we’ll explain which treatment will give you the most predictable result.

It’s normal to experience mild pressure or discomfort for a few days after your braces are fitted or adjusted. This is a sign your teeth are moving. Most patients find the sensation settles quickly and manage it easily with over-the-counter pain relief if needed.

Most patients visit every 6-8 weeks for adjustments and progress reviews. If you’re using Invisalign, you’ll change to a new set of aligners at home every 1–2 weeks, with in-clinic check-ups scheduled less frequently.

Absolutely. Modern orthodontics isn’t just for teenagers. More adults than ever are choosing braces or clear aligners to improve their confidence and oral health. At Apolline, we offer discreet options like ceramic, lingual and Invisalign aligners designed specifically for adult lifestyles.

Yes. Retainers are essential to maintain your new smile and prevent teeth from moving back. We offer both fixed retainers (bonded discreetly behind the teeth) and clear removable retainers worn at night.

The cost varies depending on the type of braces, the complexity of your case, and treatment duration. At Apolline, your initial consultation is £95, which includes a 3D scan, X-rays (if needed) and a personalised treatment plan. We also provide interest-free finance options to make treatment more affordable.

Yes. Early orthodontic assessment is highly recommended for children aged 7-10, as it allows Dr Ahmed to identify and guide jaw growth and tooth development. We provide gentle, age-appropriate treatments for young patients in a calm, reassuring environment.

If a bracket comes loose or an aligner is lost, contact us as soon as possible. We’ll arrange a repair or replacement to prevent treatment delays. Please don’t try to fix it yourself, our team will guide you safely.

You might notice a slight difference in speech or eating habits during the first few days as you adjust, especially with new appliances. Most patients adapt quickly. With removable aligners like Invisalign, you simply take them out to eat and drink.

Yes, but we recommend wearing a custom sports mouthguard for protection during contact sports. For musicians, particularly those who play wind instruments, it may take a few days to adapt, but braces won’t stop you from playing.
